The National Day of the People's Republic of China is a symbol of the country, which has come along with the emergence of the country and become particularly important. It became a symbol of an independent country, reflecting the country and its polity.
Once this special commemorative method of the National Day has become a new and universal form of festivals, it will carry the function of reflecting the cohesiveness of this country and nation. Showing the strength of the country, enhancing national confidence, embodying cohesiveness, and exerting its appeal are the three basic characteristics of the National Day celebration.
After the founding of the New People's Republic of China, according to the decision of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the military parade was listed as an important part of the National Day ceremony. The military parade on the National Day celebration was held 11 times between 1949 and 1959 , the 35th anniversary of the 1984 National Day, the 50th anniversary of the National Day in 1999,and the 60th anniversary of the National Day in 2009.
Every National Day in China, all enterprises and institutions will hang lanterns or banners, and celebrate the National Day with slogans such as “Happy National Day”; the bonsai and hydrogen balloon with slogans on the square will greet the National Day with a happy atmosphere.
Since 1999, National Day is the "Golden Week" holiday in mainland China. As of 2014, the notice of the holiday arrangement announced by the General Office of the State Council of China was from October 1st to 7th (total for 7 holidays).
The flag of the People’s Republic of China is raised at 6:10 am, on every National Day.
